About the shape: A merkaba is a star tetrahedron — two three-sided pyramids interlocked, one pointing up and one pointing down, eight points in total. In sacred geometry teaching, the upward tetrahedron carries the ascending current and the downward carries the descending, with the interlock representing spirit and matter held in the same form rather than ranked against each other.
The name merkaba comes from the Hebrew merkavah, meaning chariot, and refers to the throne-chariot of Ezekiel's vision and the body of Jewish mystical practice built around it. The popular three-part gloss you'll see repeated everywhere (Mer as light, Ka as spirit, Ba as body) is a 20th-century construction, not an ancient Egyptian etymology. The geometry is genuinely old, but that particular story about it is not.
About the stone: Rose quartz runs from soft pink to nearly golden-white. Carved and polished at this scale it usually reads translucent milky pink with faint internal veining, and light passing through the flat planes gives it a soft internal glow that no photograph captures well.
