The Morrigan is a Celtic goddess drawn primarily from Irish myth, a triple goddess whose different aspects always circle back to death and violence. She foretells doom, lashes out in revenge for slights, and appears as a shapeshifter, most often as a raven, crow, wolf, or cow. She's known by many names across her different faces, and later tradition often gives those names as three sisters: Badb, Macha, and Morrigan, with some tellings naming Nemain, Madb, or Marrigu as the third. She walks the battlefield collecting the souls of the dead and dying, but tradition holds she offers real gifts to those who call on her: courage, wisdom, sorcery, and prophecy.
