About the stone: labradorite is a plagioclase feldspar, also known as spectrolite, named for Labrador, Canada, where it was described in the 1770s. Flash can show as peacock blue, coppery red, or dusky gold, and it's directional: it appears only at certain angles and varies a great deal from stone to stone.
