A devotional incense for the Lady of the Vanir. Frankincense and benzoin give it a warm, sweet resin base, and rose and damiana lift it with floral, green notes. It is hand-blended in Lansing at Keys To Manifestation.
What you get
- 20 g of hand-blended loose incense in a glass jar
- Ingredients: angelica, benzoin, damiana, frankincense, mugwort, rose
- Ready to burn on lit charcoal in a heatproof dish. Charcoal is sold separately.
About the blend
Angelica (hvönn in Old Norse) leads off as an herb of protection and visions; it was so important that it was protected by law in Norway and Iceland. Benzoin brings in Her sweetness, and damiana her well-known lust. Frankincense is the real hero here, gold and amber like the Lady's tears. Mugwort catches the fleeting visions of scrying, and then a little rose for good luck.
Texture and color vary from batch to batch and from the photograph. Shake the jar gently before opening to loosen up any sticky contents.
Provenance & tradition
Freya is one of the Vanir, daughter of Njörð and twin sister of Frey. In the Eddas, she owns the necklace Brísingamen, flies in a cloak of falcon feathers, drives a chariot drawn by cats, and receives first pick of the battle dead in her hall, Fólkvangr. Snorri writes that she wept tears of red gold for her missing husband Óðr, and the Ynglinga saga credits her with bringing the practice of seiðr to the Aesir.
How to use
Light a charcoal disc in a heatproof dish and let it ash over. Add a small pinch. Good things to offer alongside it are mead, honey, sweets, flowers, gold jewelry, and poetry.
Who this is for
This blend is for Heathens, Norse Pagans, and Norse-path Wiccans who honor Freya. It also suits anyone doing love and self-love workings, glamour or sex magick, and trance or scrying work.
Never leave burning incense unattended. Burn in a ventilated space, away from children and pets. Contains mugwort; avoid if pregnant.
