About the deck
Each card has a single keyword printed on a gold banner at its foot. The keywords come from ordinary human life, with words like Protection, Gifts, and Structure instead of angels, deities, or ascended masters. That makes the deck easy to bring into almost any practice. A Wiccan, a Heathen, a secular journaler and a tarot reader can all pick it up without translating anyone else’s theology first.
The keyword gives a first look something to focus on. The painting brings in the rest of the meaning. Protection puts a fur-wrapped figure over a sheltered lamb. Productivity is built around honeycomb. Dreams sets a forest inside the silhouette of an antlered stag. Read the image along with the word, and each card stretches well past its label.
At 63 cards, it runs larger than most oracle decks. That gives a daily-draw practice a wide vocabulary before cards start repeating.
Provenance & tradition
Tarot has a fixed 78-card structure shared across every deck. Lenormand has a fixed 36. Oracle decks have neither. Each oracle is its maker’s own vocabulary, so learning one means learning that author’s language. Here, that language belongs to a working painter. The box describes the deck as offering both metaphysical and practical insight, and the keywords bear that out.
Mack also created the Faceted Garden Oracle and the Rain Shadow Tarot. This deck’s second print run was funded directly by backers on Kickstarter. Buying it supports an independent artist’s ongoing work.
