About the bone
Both pieces are vertebrae. Species is undetermined. Keep the piece out of the shower and out of prolonged direct sunlight.
About the stone
The point is clear quartz, silicon dioxide, in the terminated hexagonal prism form. Quartz has both piezoelectric and pyroelectric properties, meaning its polarity shifts under pressure or heat.
Correspondences
Clear quartz — third eye and crown chakras. Astrological sign: all. Also called rock crystal.
Quartz is a stone of power, and its natural tendency is described as harmony. It is worked for amplification, focus, storage, and transformation of energy, and for conversion and redirection of energy toward a beneficial state. It amplifies both body energy and thought, and it is used for clarity of thinking.
Traditionally it is called the connection between the physical dimension and the dimensions of the mind, used to communicate with minerals, plants, animals, and forces outside the physical, and to facilitate both speaking with and receiving from spiritual teachers and otherworld guides. It is also worked for calmness and clarity under pressure, for perseverance and patience, and for restful sleep.
About the form
The arched clear-front case is an established devotional housing. Thai Buddhist amulets are cased this way as standard practice and re-cased when the housing wears. European Catholic reliquaries sealed relics under glass in a theca and hung them from the neck. Victorian mourning jewelry also carried a physical remainder of the dead as ornament.
Who this is for
Death-work, ancestor practice, and memento mori wear. Naturalist and osteological collecting. Altar and portable shrine building. Gothic, folk-horror, and curiosity-cabinet wardrobes. A gift for the person whose shelf already holds a skull or two. Small parts — keep away from children and pets.
