Doll Shrine Pendant, 3 Inch
There is exactly one of this piece. Oracle Art builds each shrine pendant individually, and the one photographed is the one that ships.
What you get
- Arched case, 3 inches tall, with clear plastic panels front and back and a decorative silver-tone frame
- Standing papier-mâché figure, set against preserved moss
- 24-inch chain, silver-tone, with clasp
- Ready to wear as it arrives; nothing to assemble
- Case does not open
About the form
The figure is papier-mâché: paper and paste built up, dried hard, then surfaced. That is why it carries almost no weight for its height and why the surface reads matte rather than glassy. (Not to be confused with a porcelain Frozen Charlotte figurine.) Keep dry; dust it with a dry brush rather than a damp cloth.
The green filler is the preserved lichen sold throughout the craft trade as reindeer moss, Cladonia rangiferina, dyed and glycerin-treated so it stays soft and colorfast indoors. It holds its color for years. Sunlight is what fades it, so a dark drawer or a shaded shelf between wearings will keep it green.
Provenance and tradition
The arched case with a clear front and back is a well-established devotional format. Thai Buddhist amulets are cased this way as standard practice, worn on a neck chain and re-cased when the housing wears out. European Catholic practice sealed relics under glass in a theca and hung them from the neck by the same logic. Mexican nichos build the identical idea at wall scale: a figure, a niche, a frame that says this one matters.
This piece arrives blank, ready to be consecrated to whatever purpose calls to you.
Who this is for
Altar work and portable shrine practice. Ancestor and memorial work, where a figure stands in for a person. Travel focus for anyone who keeps a practice while away from their working space. Oddities and curiosity-cabinet collecting. Gothic, cottagecore, and folk-horror jewelry wearers. A gift for the person whose shelf is already full of small strange things. Small parts — keep away from children and pets.
