About the stone: Aventurine is a quartz, hardness 7, colored by microscopic fuchsite particles suspended in the stone. Those particles are what produce the occasional glint you'll catch when the light hits it right. The name comes from an Italian glass, a ventura, that had the same randomly spaced sparkle. Green is the most common variety; deposits are primarily in Brazil, India, and Russia. Some pieces run pale sage and near-matte, others deeper and more translucent.
