Fossil jasper is a seafloor that got compressed. Shells, coral, and small ancient creatures that lived, died, settled into sediment, and were slowly turned to stone together. Everything you're looking at was once alive and is now permanently part of the ground. (Or was.)
This is a good stone for ancestor work. Fossil jasper is a working demonstration of what how the individual dissolves, and the collective becomes the substrate that everything after it stands on. That's the mechanism behind ancestor work. You are standing on people you never met, and someday somebody will be standing on you.
It's also just profoundly steadying to hold. Slow stone. Old stone. Nothing about it is in a hurry.
