She has been waiting for the right kitchen.
Matilda is a one-of-a-kind handmade kitchen witch doll created by Gabrielle of Oracle Art in January 2026. She stands 12" tall, weighs approximately half a pound, and is built to last — constructed over a wire armature with a polymer clay and paper clay sculpted head and hands, angora goat hair, hand-painted acrylic details, glass eyes, fabric, and a vintage charm. Every material choice is intentional. Every detail is hand-executed. There is no other Matilda.
She comes fully dressed and equipped for her post: a grey dotted dress with lace trim, a lace headscarf, brown boots, and a grapevine wreath halo. In one hand she holds a small besom broom. In the other, a woven basket carrying a tiny flour bag, a red oven mitt, and miniature kitchen tools. Her basket contains rosemary and sage for protection and purification, and her potion bottle contains lavender — to invite clarity, wisdom, and healing energy into your home.
The tradition she comes from:
Kitchen witch dolls originate in German and Scandinavian folklore, where they were hung in the kitchen as guardians of the home — believed to bring good luck, inspire productivity, prevent pots from boiling over, keep food from burning, and ensure bread and cakes rise properly. She counteracts ill will, guards against bad luck, and stands watch where warmth, nourishment, and family life converge.
She arrives with her original Oracle Art identification card, signed by the artist, documenting her name, date of creation, and full materials list.
